Deadly Semi-Truck Crash Occurs on I-95

A highway sign

A crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck on I-95 has left a woman dead. The incident occurred in the southbound lanes of I-95 near Hollywood Boulevard. According to Florida Highway troopers, a female driver somehow veered to the right out of her lane, causing her to hit a wall. She then bounced back and hit the side of a semi-truck. The force of the impact ejected her from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crashes Involving Semi-Trucks

When tractor-trailers are involved in an accident, it usually results in serious injury and/or death. Statistics show that 3,602 people died in large truck crashes in 2013, and 67 percent of these victims were occupants of passenger vehicles rather than of the large truck.

When a victim is injured in a semi-truck accident, there is a chance he or she may have grounds to seek compensation for their injuries. Tractor trailers, their drivers and their owners are heavily regulated by federal and state law. That means that if the driver or company violated any regulation, they may have been acting negligently. For example, if a truck driver was overworked and not following the law on the number of consecutive hours he or she is permitted to drive, the driver and company could be held liable if “impairment” causes an accident.
